Secure Remote Access

WebRTC peer-to-peer carries the screen image wherever the network allows it, using our own and public STUN servers to find a path. A TLS-encrypted relay connection runs on every session alongside it — and carries the picture too when a direct path cannot be made — so a session can still connect when a firewall blocks the direct path.

From any browser, open the device to start a session — the screen image comes direct when the network allows it and over our relay when it doesn't, while input and control always take the relay. All sessions are logged.

Print redirection and pasting an image into the session need Chrome, Edge or another Chromium browser — in other browsers a print job arrives as a PDF to save and print locally. Viewing, control and typing work in any current browser.

Headless servers — what works today

PNT RMMS does not ship a virtual display driver. What happens on a server with no monitor attached depends on the machine: on a VMware or Hyper-V guest, the bundled topology helper switches on the hypervisor's own virtual display when nothing else is attached, and capture then runs normally. On bare metal with nothing attached, capture falls back to a slower software path — frames still arrive, but the picture may be degraded or blank, and the viewer says so when the device reports no display.

A virtual display driver of our own is the proper fix for the bare-metal case and we do not have one yet. Note that the two optional installer toggles ("Allow remote control of UAC consent prompts" and "Skip Ctrl+Alt+Del at the Windows sign-in screen") change what an operator can click, not what the server renders — each one switches off a Windows protection for the whole computer, so read the installer's description of both before enabling either.
